2020 FIELD SEASON

During the 2020 field season, surface survey was carried out on six prehistoric settlements in the area of the Rhodope Prefecture: Amarantos, Paradimi, Yfantai, Papa Ambelia (Krovili), Voidolivado (Nea Santa), and Mylon Mana (Maroneia). The distribution and the density of surface finds were recorded with an off-the-shelf free and open source mobile application. Selected surface finds were collected by the team from the Department of History and Ethnology of Democritus University and archaeologists from the Ephorates of Antiquity of Rhodope and Thessaloniki City. Students have washed and processed the finds as part of their training.

The distribution and the density of surface finds were recorded with an off-the-shelf free and open source mobile application. Selected surface finds were collected by the team from the Department of History and Ethnology of Democritus University and archaeologists from the Ephorates of Antiquity of Xanthe and Thessaloniki City. Students have washed and processed the finds as part of their training.
